The Challenge
Wingtap entered the market with a strong mission, but faced a two-sided product challenge that went beyond building a donation tool. On the donor side, people wanted to give, but struggled with fragmented information, low trust, and decision fatigue. Learning about charities often required jumping across nonprofit websites, social media, and third-party rating platforms, each offering partial or inconsistent signals of credibility and impact. Even motivated donors found it difficult to feel confident their contributions would make a real difference, especially for smaller or lesser-known organizations. This uncertainty reduced both donation frequency and long-term engagement.
At the same time, Wingtap needed to solve the classic marketplace problem of creating value before both sides were fully present. Nonprofits were hesitant to invest time managing profiles or publishing ongoing content without a proven donor base. Donors, meanwhile, needed strong storytelling, transparency, and social proof to stay engaged before nonprofits were deeply involved. The business risk was clear. Without early traction and retention on the donor side, the platform would struggle to reach critical mass and become sustainable.
Wingtap chose Goji Labs because this was a strategic foundation problem, not just a design or development challenge. Our Process
We approached Wingtap as a strategy-first engagement, knowing the product’s success depended on aligning donor psychology, nonprofit needs, and long-term platform growth. We started with focused discovery to clarify the core problems, pressure-test assumptions, and define a product north star tied to measurable outcomes. This work was grounded in secondary research on charitable giving behaviors, including what drives trust, what encourages repeat giving, and why many donors disengage after an initial contribution. Those insights informed decisions about trust signals, micro-donation patterns, social proof, and moments of reinforcement that make users feel confident and motivated.
With a clear strategy in place, we translated insights into a structured experience through user journeys and iterative design exploration. We prioritized reducing friction at key moments such as discovering a cause, understanding impact, and completing a donation quickly and confidently. Low-fidelity wireframes helped validate the structure and flow early, while high-fidelity design refined storytelling and transparency so donors could make decisions without feeling overwhelmed. In parallel, our team planned the technical foundation needed for scale, ensuring the mobile platform could evolve to support deeper nonprofit participation, richer content, and community-driven engagement loops over time.
