Preserving Nature, Empowering Activists

For over six decades, the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) has been at the very tip of the forefront of conservation efforts, employing community-centric strategies for sustainable development.

With a significant reliance on personal donations and legacies, the WWF recognized the critical role of an intuitive and functional website in driving continued growth—a crucial tool for engaging with supporters and driving donations. However, their website faced a few critical challenges that needed to be addressed.

The Goals: Driving Donations and User Engagement

The World Wildlife Fund partnered with us to address the critical challenges they faced with their website. Their primary objectives were twofold: to increase donation contributions and to facilitate seamless content adjustments on the WWF website. Additionally, they needed to resolve frontend web development and responsivity issues to ensure an optimal user experience across devices.

The Challenge: Overcoming Technical Hurdles for Enhanced User Experience

The first challenge we encountered involved integrating outdated sites into a modern format. This was a significant hurdle because we had to merge four different platforms into a cohesive format aligned with the WWF brand guidelines. We had to ensure that the new format was both visually appealing and user-friendly while still maintaining the integrity of the existing content.

The second challenge we faced was addressing issues in the mobile donation funnel. This was an essential task, as mobile donations are increasingly becoming a significant source of revenue for non-profits. We needed to make sure that the mobile donation process was smooth and easy to use to prevent donation losses and enhance the user experience.

Finally, we had to streamline the disorganized backend and resolve frontend data display issues. This was crucial because it minimized the need for frequent web development adjustments, which can be expensive and time-consuming.

We focused on enhancing the overall user experience by making the site easier to navigate and more visually appealing. By doing so, we were able to reduce the amount of time spent on web development and ensure that the site was always up-to-date and functioning.

The Approach: Streamlining Donations and Enhancing Accessibility

To address these challenges, we adopted a multifaceted approach.

First, we optimized the donation funnel to streamline the donation process, eliminating distractions and incorporating personalized donation options. Optimizing the donation funnel was crucial because it helps to eliminate any unnecessary steps or distractions that may hinder users from completing the donation process. By incorporating personalized donation options, users are more likely to feel connected to the cause and motivated to donate.

Second, we implemented responsive design solutions to develop a mobile-responsive layout, enhancing accessibility and user engagement. This included optimizing images and introducing interactive swipe functionalities. Doing so was significant because it ensured that the WWF website was accessible and user-friendly on all devices. With more and more people accessing the internet via their mobile devices, having a mobile-responsive layout is absolutely critical for engaging visitors and encouraging them to donate and take action.

And finally, we introduced a modular editing system, enabling easy customization of page layouts to support WWF projects while adhering to brand guidelines. This enabled the WWF team to showcase their various projects in a visually appealing and organized manner, ultimately increasing user engagement and support for their cause.

The Outcomes: Empowering WWF with Data-Driven Success

We’re proud that our work together yielded significant outcomes for WWF.

Their team gained enhanced control over their digital assets, with in-house management of adaptable design layouts fostering engagement across a broader user base. Furthermore, our consolidation of multiple WWF sites into a cohesive platform streamlined operations and simplified future updates.

And, in the end, we saw fantastic tangible results: a notable increase in new mobile users by 26%, a rise in site-generated purchases by 30%, and an improved average time spent on the page by 18%.

The Results

  • +26% new mobile users
  • +30% in site-generated purchases
  • +18% average time spent on page
