Iowa Municipal Workers’ Compensation Association (IMWCA) provides insurance and risk management services to municipalities across Iowa. To better serve their members, IMWCA needed a modern portal that streamlined claims, improved communication, and increased operational efficiency.
The Challenge
Municipalities depend on IMWCA to provide efficient workers’ compensation services, but the organization’s existing systems were outdated and fragmented. Members often faced delays in filing claims, limited visibility into status updates, and frustration with cumbersome processes. IMWCA recognized that to serve its members better, it needed to build a digital-first portal that could improve communication and streamline workflows.
The challenge was to design a system that balanced complex insurance processes with ease of use for municipal employees. The portal also had to handle sensitive data securely and integrate with IMWCA’s existing backend systems.
Our Approach
We worked with IMWCA to design and develop a portal tailored to the unique needs of municipalities. Our process began with extensive research into member workflows, identifying common bottlenecks, communication gaps, and points of frustration. Using these insights, we created a UI/UX system focused on clarity and simplicity, reducing the steps needed to file, manage, and track claims. Through Custom Web App Development, we delivered a secure, scalable platform that seamlessly integrated with IMWCA’s existing infrastructure—ensuring trust, smooth adoption, and long-term maintainability.
In parallel, we created a comprehensive site map of the entire IMWCA website and reorganized the information architecture to give users clearer, more intuitive access to resources, claims tools, and support channels. We also built quick-access modules and links that streamlined navigation, helping municipal employees complete essential tasks with greater confidence and efficiency.
