Kitchen Table is a digital platform built around one of the most universal traditions: sharing meals. The app connects people by creating opportunities to host, join, and share dining experiences, fostering connection through food and storytelling.
The Challenge
Communities are often fragmented in today’s digital world, and opportunities for meaningful connection can be scarce. Kitchen Table wanted to counteract this by creating a platform that encouraged people to gather, share meals, and build bonds. Unlike typical social apps, Kitchen Table focused on real-world interactions rooted in food culture and hospitality.
The challenge was to design a product that could balance safety, logistics, and intimacy. Hosts needed tools to organize events, guests needed ways to find opportunities, and everyone needed to feel secure about joining strangers around a table. Success required building trust into every aspect of the platform.
Our Approach
We partnered with Kitchen Table to create a product that prioritized usability and trust. Our UX research process included interviews with potential hosts and guests to understand motivations and concerns.
Using these insights, we designed flows for hosting, joining, and sharing experiences that emphasized clarity and safety. The platform was developed to handle event logistics while promoting community and storytelling. UI/UX was kept warm and approachable to reflect the values of sharing and connection.
The Impact
Kitchen Table launched as a refreshing take on digital connection, bringing people together in ways most apps could not. The platform successfully blended technology with culture, making it easier for communities to connect offline through shared meals.
