The Challenge
Traditional travel tools focus on logistics—maps, bookings, or directions—but rarely enhance the actual journey. Wayfarer wanted to enrich the road trip experience by blending navigation with storytelling, giving travelers a sense of discovery while on the move.
The challenge was to design an app that worked seamlessly in-car, delivering stories and guidance without distracting users. It had to integrate location-based technology with engaging audio content, creating an experience that felt natural for drivers and passengers alike.
Our Approach
We worked with Wayfarer to design and develop a product that merged entertainment with utility. Our process began with mapping user journeys for drivers and passengers, ensuring safety and simplicity were prioritized.
We started by conducting a heuristic evaluation of the app to identify key areas of weakness in terms of usability across the product. There were issues with ambiguous buttons and labels, no search feature, and confusing information architecture. To address the issues we found through our heuristic analysis, we ran a thorough competitive analysis of other apps in similar spaces.
We built location-based triggers that surfaced stories in real time, creating a sense of guided exploration. Through Mobile App Development, we delivered an app optimized for travel conditions, with intuitive controls and offline functionality for remote areas.
